\nSeriously? With all due respect I find it incredulous that anyone could rank the returning and undefeated this year 2013 FL Champion ANY lower than ONE!!
\n
\nThere is no logic possible to rank anyone above him, nor is it necessary to over handicap what looks like might happen OR COULD>
\n
\nThe guy won last year, returns and is UNBEATEN.And now he is ranked 4th? In what world does stuff like this occur in?
<\/div><\/div>
\n
\nI suspect many people agree with your opinion concerning the ability of Grant Fisher and where they might "rank" him relative to the other top runners ... If all the top guys toed-the-line today, and their betting odds were all equal, I would probably bet Grant Fisher.
\n
\nBUT ... Doug's ranking appears to be based primarily on XC performance during the 2014 XC season ... and in that regard, I tend to agree with Doug and his current placement.
\n
\nJust my opinion ... Matthew Maton, Alex Ostberg, Tanner Anderson and Andrew Hunter have all turned in recent XC performances at a higher level than anything Grant Fisher has shown during the 2014 XC season ... I think Fisher is definitely capable of doing better when necessary, but he has not done it this entire season while the other guys have ... and at this late point in the season, I would rank runners based on what they have done as opposed to my subjective opinion.
\n
\nAs a handicapper looking for a bet (I take longer odds that have a legitimate shot whenever possible), I would consider this .... Besides Fisher, the other top retuning Footlocker runners (Maton and Ostberg) have clearly shown they are better this season than last year, and so has Tanner Anderson ... In my opinion, all three have performed at level equal to or better than Fisher's Footlocker winning performance (which is Fisher's best XC performance ever) ... I think Grant Fisher will need a PR performance at Footlocker Nationals in order to win.","date_added":"Nov 22nd 2014, 3:29pm","nest":0,"liked":false,"member":[],"can_delete":false,"item_id":301132,"item_type":"news","pb_image":"i\/no_avatar.png","pb_title":"Bill Meylan","pb_url":"profile.php?member_id=43675","pb_url_dns":"https:\/\/Bill-Meylan.runnerspace.com\/","pb_wally_id":"1073444"},"1176600":{"pb_id":"68733","pb_type":"members","likes":"0","parent_id":"0","pid":"1176600","comment_id":"1176600","member_id":"68733","comment":"Seriously? \n
\nFisher is the defending champ and I believe he's better than he was last year. I have no reason to doubt that his training is going well or that he'll be well-prepared. I like his coach. But I'm not convinced that he's head and shoulders above his peers either. And I think the quality of fitness we're seeing from Maton, Ostberg, Hunter and Dressel could put any one of them in position to win that race. I think it may take 14:55 or better to win it this year.
\n
\nThis week's list was not easy to come up with. The easy way out might have to create ties up at the top, but that would be lame.
\n
\nFisher is really really good but he didn't kill it at his state meet the way top three did. (And for that matter, Hunter as well).
\n
\nSo yeah, no doubt Fisher's best stuff is yet to come.
\n
\nAs far as NXN goes, Anderson is the clear favorite.","date_added":"Nov 21st 2014, 5:03pm","nest":0,"liked":false,"member":{"wally_id":"1082747","email_settings":"4294967295","email":"dbind4@aol.com","address":"DougB","gender":"u","member_id":"44418","member_name":"DougB","avatar_location":"av-44418.jpg","avatar_type":"upload","avatar":"\/\/www.runnerspace.com\/forum\/uploads\/av-44418.jpg"},"can_delete":false,"item_id":301132,"item_type":"news","pb_image":"\/\/www.runnerspace.com\/forum\/uploads\/av-44418.jpg","pb_title":"DougB","pb_url":"profile.php?member_id=44418","pb_url_dns":"https:\/\/DougB.runnerspace.com\/","pb_wally_id":"1082747"},"1176313":{"pb_id":"53721","pb_type":"members","likes":"0","parent_id":"0","pid":"1176313","comment_id":"1176313","member_id":"53721","comment":"FL Nats will be battle of Stanford's top 2 recruits. \nI think rankings are sort of a "what have you done for me lately" ordeal. The top 3 in Doug's rankings have shown some great form. However, I believe Grant has won something like 49 out of the last 50 US HS races he's competed in, which dates back to his sophomore track season when he got 2nd by 6\/1000ths of a second in the 1600 at his state meet. He's tough to bet against, that is for sure.","date_added":"Nov 21st 2014, 1:46am","nest":0,"liked":false,"member":[],"can_delete":false,"item_id":301132,"item_type":"news","pb_image":"i\/no_avatar.png","pb_title":"cerutty fan","pb_url":"profile.php?member_id=50627","pb_url_dns":"https:\/\/www.runnerspace.com\/profile.php?member_id=50627","pb_wally_id":"1212787"},"1176069":{"pb_id":"42240","pb_type":"members","likes":"0","parent_id":"0","pid":"1176069","comment_id":"1176069","member_id":"42240","comment":"Agreed... the question will be how much will Fisher beat Maton at San Diego?","date_added":"Nov 21st 2014, 12:14am","nest":0,"liked":false,"member":{"wally_id":"1019712","email_settings":"4294967295","email":"newman.dyestatil@gmail.com","address":"ILXCTF","gender":"u","member_id":"42240","member_name":"ILXCTF - Mike Newman","avatar_location":"av-42240.jpg","avatar_type":"upload","avatar":"\/\/www.runnerspace.com\/forum\/uploads\/av-42240.jpg"},"can_delete":false,"item_id":301132,"item_type":"news","pb_image":"\/\/www.runnerspace.com\/forum\/uploads\/av-42240.jpg","pb_title":"ILXCTF - Mike Newman","pb_url":"profile.php?member_id=42240","pb_url_dns":"https:\/\/ILXCTF.runnerspace.com\/","pb_wally_id":"1019712"},"1176028":{"pb_id":"5929","pb_type":"members","likes":"0","parent_id":"0","pid":"1176028","comment_id":"1176028","member_id":"5929","comment":"Wow, Grant Fisher falls to 4th !
