Regional Rankings Girls XC 2015 - 11/5 - DyeStat

South

The race for the top team in the South gets its first full match up this weekend at the Texas state meet.  To start the season, Kingwood was the clear favorite.  They still have a good chance, but Marcus, Southlake Carroll, a young Keller squad and Smithson Valley all have the opportunity to lay claim to the best team in the South, at least until the South Region Championship.

Southeast

The major players in the Southeast Region have their state meets this weekend, accept for the teams from Virgina.  Leesville Road NC enters the top five after narrowly beating Green Hope NC at their regional meet.

4. Houston TN

5. Leesville Road NC

 

Midwest

The top four places in the region remain unchanged from two weeks ago. However, it is a tight battle for the fifth spot.  Birmingham Seaholm MI has emerged as a top five contender in the Midwest with strong and steady performances all season.  Illinois, Ohio and Michigan all have their state meets this weekend.

Heartland

Wayzata MN, the national champions in 2013, after a slow start to the season are beginning to put things together, finishing second behind No. 1 ranked Edina MN at the Section 6 Championships.  They reenter the rankings at No. 4, jumping ahead of Urbandale IA.

New York

Saratoga Springs had a strong run in their win at the Suburban Council Championship last weekend.  However, it is not enough to vault them above the No. 1 team in the country.  In other meets around New York, East Aurora had a slightly better performance than North Rockland, giving the Blue Devils the edge.

Northeast

Unionville PA finished a close second to Pennsbury PA at the District 1 Championship.  Pinkerton NH ran well at the New Hampshire Divisional Championships.  They will run head to head with Coe Brown NH at the New Hampshire Meet of Champions this weekend.

Northwest

Sunset OR, with an off day at the Oregon State Meet, narrowly defeated Jesuit OR, but it was not enough to alter the rankings.  Bozeman MT moves up to No. 4 and Summit OR reenters the top five after dominating the 5A Oregon state meet, scoring 23 points.

Southwest

The top three places remain unchanged this week.  Last weekend, Air Academy, led by US#1 Katie Rainsberger, had the top performance at the Colorado State Meet.  Xavier College Prep AZ enters the top five after several strong performances in October, including a third place finish behind Desert Vista AZ and Air Academy at the Desert Twilight.  They race Baylee Jones and her No. 3 ranked Thunder teammates this weekend at the Arizona State Meet.

Great Oak, led by seniors Destiny Collins and Skyler Bollinger, won the sweepstakes race at the Apache Invitational in its final regular-season challenge. Despite Fiona O'Keeffe sitting out her third straight race to rest for the postseason, Davis Senior still won the Delta League title behind Sofia Castiglioni, Abigail Fisk and Olivia O'Keeffe sweeping the top three spots. Yucaipa remained unbeaten in seven races this season by capturing its fifth straight Citrus Belt League crown.
