The Preseason Top 100 Girls


 

1. Nevada Mareno, senior, Leesville Road (North Carolina): Without Weini Kelati to chase any more, the North Carolina star could be poised to dominate.

2. Annie Hill, junior, Glacier (Montana): Following in the footsteps of Makena Morley and Christina Aragon in Montana.

3. Allie Schadler, senior, Rio Rico (Arizona): If plantar fasciitis problems are over, she could be ready to roll.

4. Kate Murphy, senior, Lake Braddock (Virginia): Olympic Trials qualifier in the 1,500 could be motivated this fall by team success.

5. Cailie Logue, senior, Girard (Kansas): Small-town Kansas star finished third at NXN last year.

6. Kelsey Chmiel, sophomore, Saratoga Springs (New York): Top runner on one of the country's best teams, she was fourth at NXN as a freshman.

7. Libby Davidson, senior, E.C. Glass (Virginia): She's been sixth at Foot Locker nationals two years in a row.

8. Jessica Lawson, senior, Corning (New York): Foot Locker 11th place; Foot Locker Northeast 2nd place; New York Federation champion.

9. Brie Oakley, senior, Grandview (Colorado): Rapidly developing into a national elite, ran 10:08.89 for two miles at Brooks PR meet.

10. Ashton Endsley, senior, Abilene (Texas): She finished sixth at NXN last year.

11. Sarah Leinheiser, senior, Carmel (Indiana): Great finish to 2015 included seventh at NXN, eighth at Foot Locker.

12. Madison Troy, junior, Grandville (Michigan): Finished seventh at Foot Locker and 12th at NXN in 2015.

13. Aislinn Devlin, senior, Downingtown West (Pennsylvania): She was the NXN Northeast champion and ninth at NXN.

14. Lindsey Payne, junior, Glenbard West (Illinois): Runner-up in Illinois last year could push closer to the 16-minute barrier at Detweiller Park. 

15. Lauren Gregory, senior, Fort Collins (Colorado): Three-time Colorado champ has loads of big meet experience.

16. Claire Walters, freshman, Fayetteville-Manlius (New York): She’s not only a national champion with F-M, she’s also the New York state individual champion.

17. Ember Stratton, sophomore, Sunset (Oregon): She had a breakout freshman year in Oregon.

18. Anna Sophia Keller, senior, St. Anthony (Illinois): Going for her fourth IHSA Class 1A state championship.

19. Niki Iyer, senior, Harker School (California): She was third in the 3,200 meters at the CIF finals in June.

20. Julia Heymach, senior, Lamar (Texas): Reigning Texas 6A champion has NXN and Foot Locker experience.

21. Taylor Cuneo, junior, Central Magnet (Tennessee): Already a two-time state champion in Tennessee.

22. Rylee Bowen, junior, Sonoma Academy (California): Two-time CIF Division 5 champion has been more successful on the track, but she’s a big talent.

23. Eleanor Lawler, junior, South Kingstown (Rhode Island): She was 14th at Foot Locker last year.

24. Jordan Oakes, senior, Holy Names (Washington): Washington 3A state champion ran an impressive 9:39 for 3,000 at U.S. Juniors.

25. Rebecca Story, junior, Christian Academy of Knoxville (Tennessee): Three state track titles and a 10:11 3,200 were big confidence boosters in the spring.

26. Molly Born, junior, Shawnee Mission Northwest (Kansas): Kansas state champion is poised for a big fall after excellent track season and 10:11 clocking in Brooks PR 2-mile.

27. Taylor Roe, sophomore, Lake Stevens (Washington): Mid-year transfer did not slow down the Washington 4A champion with big-time potential.

28. Katelyn Tuohy, freshman, North Rockland (New York): Rapidly developing into a star, she was second at the New York state meet in the 1,500.

29. Rachel McArthur, senior, Patriot (Virginia): Looking to get back to 2014 XC form after great track season (2:06/4:45).

30. Alyssa Aldridge, junior, Mainland (New Jersey): Returning New Jersey MOC champion.

31. Whitney Rich, senior, Bingham (Utah): Based on the state track meet and early results this August she could be top runner in Utah.

32. Tiahna Vladic, sophomore, Billings Senior (Montana): Spent a year in Christina Aragon’s shadow, but no more. She was 23rd at NXN.

33. Briana Gess, senior, Haddonfield Memorial (New Jersey): Going for her third trip to the Foot Locker finals this fall.

34. Maria Coffin, senior, Annapolis (Maryland): State champion in cross country and track was 27th at Foot Locker.

35. Holly Lung, senior, Arcadia (California): She won the Div 1/2 Team Sweeps race at Mt. SAC last year in 17:17.

36. Glennis Murphy, senior, Redwood (California): She came on late last season to make Foot Locker where she was 21st.

37. Bryn Morley, junior, Bigfork (Montana): Class B cross country champion getting back on track after injury.

38. Olivia Brooks, senior, Summit (Oregon): She’s looking for her third straight Oregon Class 5A title.

39. India Johnson, senior, Hilliard Davidson (Ohio): She won the state 3,200 meters title in 10:29.80 and also was the runner-up in XC last fall.

40. Jackie Gaughan, junior, Exeter (New Hampshire): She ran a strong second in the New Englands 3,200 (10:24.27) in June.

41. Kate Hunter, senior, Provo (Utah): The Class 4A state champion was 31st at Foot Locker last year.

42. Bailey Hertenstein, junior, Riverview (Florida): Reigning Class 4A champion in Florida.

43. Caitlin Collier, junior, The Bolles (Florida): Time to find out if that tremendous 2:06 speed translates to breakout cross country season.

44. Kayla Young, senior, Denver North (Colorado): Class 4A runner-up made it to the Foot Locker finals last year.

45. Katherine Lee, junior, Shoreham-Wading River (New York): She was third in the NY Class B meet and ran 4:28.96/9:39.88 double for 1,500/3,000 at the New York state track meet.

46. Kristen Garcia, junior, Tesseract RC (Washington): Running for her club only, she made it to Foot Locker last fall.

47. Karly Ackley, senior, Grand Forks Central (North Dakota): Impressive results at North Dakota state meet and Great Southwest bode well for fall.

48. Mary Hennelly, freshman, Suffern (New York): She qualified for NXN as an individual as an eighth grader.

49. Cassidy Haskell, sophomore, Miramonte (California): She was the runner-up at the CIF Division 3 state meet.

50. Rafaella Gibbons, junior, Winter Park (Florida): Already a two-time NXN qualifier, looking for her second Florida 4A title.

51. Emily Virtue, junior, Burroughs (California): She’s the top returner from the CIF Division 1 finals and a Foot Locker finalist.

52. Palmer Madsen, junior, Fayetteville-Manlius (New York): The No. 3 runner on the national championship squad at NXN, 37th overall.

53. McKenna Lee, junior, Weber (Utah): She placed 17th at Foot Locker last year.      

54. Anna Juul, senior, Unionville (Pennsylvania): She was third at the Pennsylvania state meet (AAA) last year and third at NXN Northeast.

55. Sara Platek, senior, Ragsdale (North Carolina): Had a breakout 10:29 2-mile at New Balance Nationals Outdoor.

56. Chloe Arriaga, sophomore, Walnut (California): She was seventh as a freshman at the CIF Division I state finals after winning Southern Section title.

57. Mattie Shirley-Fairbairn, sophomore, Bismarck (North Dakota): North Dakota state champion was seventh at NXN Heartland.

58. Christina Geisler, senior, Carmel (Indiana): She was fourth at the Indiana state meet in the 3,200 meters, ahead of Leinheiser.

59. Sara Musselman, senior, American Fork (Utah): She was ninth at NXN Southwest.

60. Sofia Castiglioni, senior, Davis Senior (California): Her inspired running helped Davis take second at NXN last year.

61. Allie Chipman, junior, Mountain Vista (Colorado): Based upon her stunning Woodbridge victory last year in California she’s on the list and hopefully recovered from injury.

62. Lydia Olivere, junior, Padua (Delaware): Delaware state champion ran 10:34 in the spring for 3,200.

63. Morgan Foster, sophomore, Chandler (Arizona): Big potential for cross country after running 2:09/4:54 in the spring.

64. Julia Curtin, junior, Beverly (Massachusetts): She was second at the Massachusetts Div 1 state meet.

65. Mary Webb, senior, Pennsbury (Pennsylvania): She was fifth at NXN Northeast.

66. Hannah Tobiason, junior, Summit (Oregon): She was eighth at NXN Northwest.

67. Sophia Ryan, junior, Fayetteville-Manlius (New York): She was 12th at NXN New York.

68. Piper Meuwissen, senior, Bozeman (Montana): She leads the charge for Bozeman as the Hawks try to repeat as Northwest champions.

69. Cheyenne Walden, senior, Charles Page (Oklahoma): The dominant figure in Oklahoma got her first taste of NXN last year.

70. Amanda Mayoral, junior, Cleveland (New Mexico): New Mexico champion was third at NXN Southwest behind Katie Rainsberger and Lauren Gregory.

71. Sarah Carter, senior, Xavier College Prep (Arizona): She’s the defending Arizona Div 1 champion.

72. Anna Marian Block, junior, Athens Academy (Georgia): Private school state champion ran an attention-grabbing 4:46.67 mile for sixth at New Balance Nationals Outdoor.

73. Ashley Tutt, senior, Minooka (Illinois): She was fourth at the Illinois 3A state meet last year.

74. Morgan Gigandet, junior, Troy (Ohio): She was fourth at the Ohio state meet last year and eighth at NXN Midwest.

75. Olivia O’Keeffe, junior, Davis Senior (California): She was third in the 1,600 at the CIF finals in June.

76. Kayley DeLay, senior, Fletcher (Florida): She won the 4A 3,200 title in 10:30.30.

77. Maggie Farrell, senior, Battle Creek Lakeview (Michigan): Two big early season wins point to big season.

78. Serena Tripodi, senior, The Lovett School (Georgia): She was sixth at NXN Southeast last year.

79. Evelyn Mandel, senior, Great Oak (California): Stepping up to lead California’s top program.

80. Emma Wilson, sophomore, Greencastle (Indiana): Eighth as a freshman at the Indiana state meet.

81. Jessi Larson, junior, Saline (Michigan): She was second at the Michigan state meet last year.

82. Hayley Jackson, senior, Patuxent (Maryland): Dominated last year’s Maryland Class 2A meet.

83. Alena Sapienza-Wright, junior, DuPont Manual (Kentucky): Returning Class 3A state champion.

84. Katherine DeLoreto, senior, Tolland (Connecticut): She was third at New Englands last year.

85. Keelin Hayes, sophomore, Tatnall (Delaware): She’s the Delaware Div 2 state champion.

86. Clare Martin, senior, Newton South (Massachusetts): She was fourth at the Massachusetts state meet last year.

87. Claire Boersma, senior, Marshall (Minnesota): She was third at the Minnesota state meet last year.

88. Taylor Somers, senior, Millard South (Nebraska): She was undefeated in Nebraska last year.

89. Olympia Martin, senior, Ridgewood (New Jersey): She was second at the New Jersey MOC last year.

90. Alex Harris, senior, North Rockland (New York): She was seventh at the NY Federation meet.

91. Carly Benson, junior, West Genesee (New York): She was fourth at the New York Class A state meet.

92. Makena Schumacher, sophomore, Jesuit (Oregon): She had spring PRs of 4:32.67 (1,500) and 9:54.88 (3,000).

93. Reagan Kappel, junior, Katy Cinco Ranch (Texas): She finished second at the UIL 6A state meet.

94. Amanda Vestri, senior, Webster Thomas (New York): Big improvement in the spring included 9:48 in 3,000.

95. Sielle Kearney, junior, Traverse City Central (Michigan): She was fourth at the Michigan state meet.

96. Emily Shelton, junior, Minooka (Illinois): She was third in the Illinois 3A 3,200 meters this spring.

97. Karina Haymore, senior, Centennial (Nevada): Defending Nevada state champ has huge track creds.

98. Emma Wolcott, junior, Tuscarora (Virginia): She’s the Virginia Class 5A state champion.   

99. Sophie Whicher, junior, Minnetonka (Minnesota): She was seventh at the Minnesota AA state meet.

100. Eve Jensen, sophomore, Boise (Idaho): She had two top-three finishes at the Idaho 5A track championships.
