The Boys Top 30, 11/30

This week (Last ranking)

(2). Brodey Hasty, senior, Brentwood/unattached TN: He ran a strong 14:36 to win the NXR Southeast title for the third straight year. He is the top returner and has to rate as a co-favorite, at a minimum.

(1). James Mwaura, senior, Lincoln WA: His credentials are as good as anyone and he has had a chance to rest and prepare for the NXN final. He could give Washington its third individual champion in five years.

(3). Dustin Horter, senior, Lakota East OH: He won NXR Midwest and took some time to rest. He could win Saturday.

(6). Danny Kilrea, senior, Lyons Township IL: The Illinois 3A champion won Foot Locker Midwest last week and is entered in both national championship meets. Foot Locker might be his best shot.

(5). Aidan Troutner, senior, Timpview UT: He won the NXR Southwest title and is hoping to follow American Fork graduate Casey Clinger’s path to NXN success.

(4). Alex Maier, junior, Flower Mound TX: Maier was fifth at NXN last year.

(17). Justin Hazell, senior, El Camino Real CA: He was the fastest of the day at the CIF Finals, winning the Division 1 title, but a wet course in Portland could prove to be a big adjustment.

(NR). John Tatter, senior, RJ Reynolds NC: He won Foot Locker South.

(7). Dalton Hengst, senior, McDonogh School MD: He was fourth at Foot Locker Northeast, but he’s zeroed in on Foot Locker Nationals.

(8). Drew Thompson, senior, Fairfield Prep CT: He won the New England High School Championships by 32 seconds and placed fifth at Foot Locker Northeast.

(9). Conant Smith, junior, Middletown OH: The third-place finisher at NXR Midwest is a sleeper this week at NXN.

(10). Dylan Jacobs, senior, Carl Sandburg IL: He’s double booked for the national meets after taking fifth at Foot Locker Midwest.

(NR). Tristan Shelgren, senior, St. John’s Prep MA: He turned some heads by winning the Foot Locker Northeast title.

(11). Devin Hart, junior, Point Pleasant Boro NJ: The New Jersey Meet of Champions winner punched his ticket to San Diego.

(27). Carter Cheeseman, junior, Forth Worth Christian TX: He edged out Maier to win NXR South and also made it through Foot Locker South.

(12). Meika Beaudoin-Rousseau, senior, Bellarmine Prep CA: A slightly off day at the Division 1 state final shouldn’t prevent him from getting through Foot Locker West on Saturday.
