Regional Rankings Girls XC 2016 - 11/17 - DyeStat

Southeast

Lake Braddock VA and Blacksburg VA appear to have some company at the top of the Southeast Region rankings. Cardinal Gibbons NC ran its best race of the season at the North Carolina State Meet and could contend for an NXN berth.

South

Keller TX returns to the top of the South Region rankings after a stellar state meet, beating Southlake Carroll TX by 40 points. Randall TX and Prosper TX move into the 4-5 spots after four points separated them in the Texas 5A race.

Heartland

The Heartland Region had its regional meet last Sunday. Edina MN earned a narrow six-point victory over Willmar MN. Both teams will be returning to NXN. The remaining teams eligible for selection are also from Minnesota, Wayzata and Minnetonka.

Midwest

Carmel IN experienced a scare at the NXR Midwest Championships as standout Sarah Leinheiser was unable to finish the race. However, the Greyhounds were still able to come out on top, beating Naperville North IL, 108-120. Both teams qualify for NXN. Rounding out the NXN eligible teams are Minooka IL and Yorkville IL.

New York

North Rockland moves up to No. 2 this week after finishing second at the New York Class A State Championships. Fayetteville-Manlius continues to show why it is US#1 and will likely skip the New York Federations Meet to rest for NXR New York, in keeping with the pattern of recent years.

Northeast

Big shakeups in the Northeast Region. Ridge NJ moves into the top spot after winning the New Jersey Group 4 Championships over North Hunterdon NJ. Champlain Valley Union moves up to No. 3 after winning the New England Championships.

Southwest

No change this week in the Southwest. The NXR Southwest Regional is this weekend. Desert Vista AZ appears to be the class of the feild, but the battle for the second automatic berth to NXN is very tight.

Northwest

Bozeman MT and Summit OR came away big winners at the NXR Northwest Championships. They will compete in Portland. Sunset OR, after finishing second to Jesuit OR at the Oregon Class 6A State Meet, ran a great race to finish third. Jackson WY rounds out the NXN eligible teams with their fourth place finish last Saturday.

With only four varsity runners competing, Great Oak was edged by Dana Hills in the Southern Section prelims, but a full-strength Wolfpack lineup is ready to take on Arcadia, Yucaipa, Vista Murrieta and the Dolphins in the section championship. Davis Senior repeated as Sac-Joaquin Section Division 1 champions, sweeping the top three spots and placing six runners among the first 11 finishers. Palos Verdes hasn't been tested since the team sweepstakes race at the Mt. SAC Invitational, but the Sea Kings will look to capture a Southern Section championship after being upset last year by Esperanza. Claremont will face strong challenges from Saugus, Anaheim Canyon, Capistrano Valley and San Marcos in the Southern Section Division 2 final.
