Jane Hedengren Leaves No Doubt With Dominant NXN Victory Over Deep National Field; Elizabeth Leachman Wins Second Foot Locker Title To Secure No. 2

Jane Hedengren's 40-second victory at Nike Cross Nationals cemented the Timpview UT senior as the No. 1 female high school runner in the country for 2024. 

In contrast to years where there is a split decision, or a difficult one, this time it was easy. 

Behind her, the next tier came down to two: Elizabeth Leachman and Victoria Garces. And although Garces outsprinted Leachman for second place at NXN, the Boerne Champion TX junior got the final word in San Diego with her victory at the Foot Locker Championships. Garces, of Midland Dow MI, capped off her season at No. 3. 

Beyond them, the rest of this season's top 100 generally follows the finishing order of the two primary national meets, which are the end-of-season goal events for most of the runners. Some consideration has been made for other important in-season competitions, but the national meets and regional meets carried the most weight. 

Colorado's footprint looms large on the top 100 and Keeghan Edwards of victorious Mountain Vista and Addy Ritzenhein of Niwot come in at Nos. 4 and 5 following their performances at NXN. There are 15 Colorado girls in the top 100.
