Heartland

No changes this week in the Heartland Region rankings. Edina MN were easy winners in the Lake Conference Championships over Wayzata MN and Minnetonka MN. Willmar MN were big winners at the Tech Invitational. Johnston IA remains at No. 3, but they have shown some inconsistency this season and are vulnerable. Also, Marshall MN looks to be making a late season push after a second place finish to Willmar at the Alexandria Invitational.

1. Edina MN

2. Willmar MN

3. Johnston IA

4. Wayzata MN

5. Minnetonka MN

Midwest

Outside of Carmel IN, Illinois continues to dominate the Midwest rankings. The separation between the Illinois schools is small enough that they could have any order of finish at the State Meet. Meanwhile, Carmel is cruising through the qualifications toward the Indiana State Meet.

1. Carmel IN

2. Naperville North IL

3. Minooka IL

4. Yorkville IL

5. Glenbard West IL

New York

Recent results have confirmed recent rankings in New York. Fayetteville-Manlius were big winners at the Manhattan Invitational where North Rockland finished second. Meanwhile, Shenendehowa won at Paul Short and Shoreham-Wading River won at the Northeast XC Championships in Rhode Island.

1. Fayetteville-Manlius

Northeast

The competition for who will represent the Northeast Region in Portland is heating up. Currently, Oakland Catholic PA has a narrow lead on the field after their second place finish at Paul Short, but little separates the next three teams. North Hunterdon NJ ran a slightly better race than Ridge NJ at the Shore Coaches Invitational, running in separate races. Then Champlain Valley Union VT finished six points behind Ridge at the Manhattan Invitational, showing continued improvement through  the season.

Northwest

Bozeman MT is the class of the Northwest Region, but Jesuit OR is beginning to close the gap. The Crusaders won at Hole in the Wall with a performance that places them solidly in second in the region and narrowing the distance to last year's NXR NW champions. Mountain View ID's performance at the Bob Conley Invitational and Summit OR's race at the George Fox XC Classic place cement their positions as well.

2. Jesuit OR

3. Mountain View ID

4. Summit OR

5. Jackson WY

California (by Erik Boal)

Great Oak already has invitational victories over Davis Senior and Arcadia at Stanford and Clovis, with the Wolfpack seeking a third win over its Division 1 rivals in the team sweepstakes race at the Mt. SAC Invitational, which also features Claremont and Palos Verdes in a showdown of the top teams in Southern Section divisions 1, 2 and 3. Claremont and Division 2 rival Saugus will also race head to head at Mt. SAC, with Palos Verdes choosing to move up after its full lineup produced a 41-second gap among scoring runners in the Bay League opener.

1. Great Oak (Southern Section Division 1)

2. Davis Senior (San Joaquin Section Division 1)

3. Arcadia (Southern Section Division 1)

4. Claremont (Southern Section Division 2)
