NCAA D1 Men's XC Rankings - 11/8Published by
NCAA Men’s Regionals on Friday By Adam Schneider of Dyestat The nine NCAA Division 1 regional qualifying meets are all scheduled for Friday. The top two from each of the regions are automatic qualifying teams and will advance to compete Nov. 18 at the Division 1 Championships in Louisville, Ky. An additional 13 at-large teams from all of the regionals, along with 38 individuals, are selected as long as they finish in the top 25 of their region and are not on the qualifying teams. The 13 teams are selected from the teams that don’t finish in the top two in each region. Beginning Sept. 8, teams accumulate “wins” by defeating automatic qualifying teams that run their “A” squads. “A” squads are determined by the usage of four or more runners from the regional squads. A lower finishing regional team can bump a team ahead of them, i.e., if a team finishes third and has no wins over “A” squads, they can advance if the team in fourth has a significant number of wins over “A” squads. The NCAA selection committee will determine the 13 at-large teams and then choose four individuals from each region if they are in the top 25 and not on one of the teams that advance to the Division 1 championships. After that, an additional two runners will be selected if they finished in the top 25 of their region.
