High School Regional Rankings Boys XC 2018 - 10/4/2018Published by
Boys Regional Rankings - 10/4/18 By Paul Schmitz of DyeStat Eight of the top nine regional teams from the last rankings maintain No. 1 spots at the mid-season point. The lone change at comes in the Heartland Region on the heels of the Roy Griak Invitational. Edina MN claims the top spot after a tight win over a large field of the region's best teams. Wayzata MN ran at Griak without one of its top runners. The Trojans project to win the region if they are healthy by NXR time. Behind Great Oak, the rankings in California look as organized as a pileup on a California freeway. The Wolfpack remains the class of the deepest region/state in the country, but behind Great Oak there is a lot of parity. St. Francis Mountain View drops from the rankings for now. Last year this team peaked late and surprised at the state meet and it could follow that pattern again. Dana Hills moves into the top five after an impressive win in the McQuaid Invitational over many top teams from New York. Newbury Park bumps up to a precarious No. 2. That position will be tested this weekend at the Clovis Invitational with Great Oak, Dana Hills, St. Francis Mountain View and West Ranch all in attendance. Hudson is still the team to beat in Ohio and can challenge in the Midwest if healthy. For now, Mason OH is performing the best in the state and moves into the top five. Smithtown West NY jumps from No. 5 to No. 2 with an impressive second-place finish at McQuaid ahead of Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake, Corning and Liverpool. The top five in the Northeast stay intact with a slight change in the order. La Salle Academy RI looked impressive at the Bowdoin Classic and Christian Brothers Academy NJ looked like an NXN podium contender in that race.
