National Boys High School Team Rankings - 10/25Published by
Bishop Hendricken RI Crashes The Top Five By Paul Schmitz of DyeStat Bishop Hendricken RI ran arguably the most impressive regular season meet when it won the Eastern States race Oct. 13 at the Manhattan Invitational. The Hawks bested nine ranked or previously ranked teams, including Fayetteville-Manlius NY, Claremont CA, Christian Brothers Academy NJ, The Bolles School FL and La Salle Academy RI. Finishing first at Manhattan is a quality predictor of future success. The past eight champions of the mid-season race have gone on to qualify for NXN. Six of those Manhattan champions went on the finish in the top seven at NXN, with F-M in 2014 and CBA in 2011 each taking home national titles. Flower Mound TX has been the team to beat all year in Texas but the Jaguars were upended in the UIL Class 6A regional meet by perennial state power Southlake Carroll. Flower Mound’s ranking has been based on the two potential low sticks in the team, Alex Maier and Jarrett Kirk. Those two took care of business, finishing 2-3 in the meet, but Southlake Carroll put five runners ahead of Flower Mound’s number three on the way to a 79-95 victory. To make the South even more interesting, The Woodlands is rounding into shape just in time and dominated its regional meet with a 15:17 top-five average. At this point it is too close to call in the state of Texas and the NXR South. American Fork UT and Great Oak CA inch up one spot each and join Loudoun Valley VA as top tier teams with an NXN title within reach. American Fork and Great Oak continue fantastic seasons, with American Fork winning the Utah Class 6A state title and Great Oak dominating the field at the Mt. SAC Invitational. Boys Top 30 6. Wheaton Warrenville South IL 10. Christian Brothers Academy NJ 19. Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake NY
