Individual Girls Preseason Top 100 XC 2019

The Preseason Girls Top 100

1. Katelyn Tuohy, senior, North Rockland NY: She’s the two-time NXN champion and one of the greatest prep runners in history.

2. Sydney Masciarelli, junior, Marianapolis Prep CT: She is the reigning Foot Locker champion. 

3. Katelynne Hart, senior, Glenbard West IL: The Foot Locker runner-up can become a four-time Illinois state champion this fall.

4. Marlee Starliper, senior, Northern PA: The New Balance Nationals Outdoor mile champion earned a silver medal in the 3,000 meters at the Pan Am U-20 Championships.

5. Taylor Ewert, senior, Beavercreek OH: The record-breaking racewalker was fourth at Foot Locker and third at NXN last year. 

6. Abby VanderKooi, sophomore, Muskegon Western Michigan Christian MI: One of the biggest breakout stars of the 2018 cross country season, she finished third at Foot Locker. 

7. Claire Walters, senior, Fayetteville-Manlius NY: She has placed fifth at NXN two years in a row and been part of three national championship teams.

8. Brooke Rauber, junior, Tully NY: The Class D New York state champion was sixth at NXN.

9. Kate Wiser, junior, Pomperaug CT: She owns New England titles in cross country and outdoors in the 3,200 meters.

10. Jenna Hutchins, sophomore, Science Hill TN: She ran 4:43.33 for the full mile at the Music City Distance Carnival and was ninth in her first appearance at the Foot Locker championships.

11. Sydney Thorvaldson, junior, Rawlins WY: The reigning NXR Northwest champion ran 10:12.18 for 3,200 meters at Arcadia.

12. Brynn Brown, junior, Denton Guyer TX: She made big progress in track season, winning the Texas 6A 3,200-meter title in 10:09.91 and ran 9:57.54 in the 2-mile race at the Brooks PR Invitational.

13. Tori Starcher, senior, Ripley WV: She enjoyed a tremendous track season, which included a 4:38.19 mile at Penn Relays, and hopes to carry it into cross country. 

14. Fiona Max, senior, Summit OR: She led the Storm to the NXN team title, a first for the West coast.

15. Mattalyn Geddes, senior, Twin Falls ID: The Idaho 4A champion capped her season by placing ninth at NXN.  

16. Lauren Ping, freshman, Desert Vista AZ: Already a two-time NXN participant, she will have a change of scenery with her move to Arizona, along with older sister Grace.

17. Jaden Theis, junior, Lansing Catholic MI: The Foot Locker sixth-place finisher is recovering from a stress fracture suffered in the spring.

18. Charlotte Bednar, sophomore, Lawrenceville School NJ: Almost unheard of before she placed 12th at NXN, she has transferred to a school with better coaching, and where her twin sister, Caroline, attends.  

19. Tori Gaitan, senior, Great Oak CA: After a tremendous cross country season in California, she missed the track season with an injury.

20. Sasha Neglia, senior, Dobyns-Bennett TN: The reigning NXR Southeast champion, she placed 15th at NXN.

21. Allie Janke, junior, North Central WA: A breakout track season (4:43/10:10) has her poised for a big fall.

22. Sarah Trainor, senior, Franklin D. Roosevelt NY: She broke the national high school record in the 2,000-meter steeplechase in the spring.

23. Taryn Parks, senior, Greencastle Antrim PA: A miler to match Starliper, she aims to close the gap on her in-state rival in cross country and advance to Foot Locker Nationals for a fourth time.

24. Carly McNatt, freshman, IMG Academy FL: She opened the season with a 17:15 clocking for 5,000 meters at the Lehigh Lightning Invitational.

25. Corie Smith, senior, Buchanan CA: The CIF Central Section XC champion finished second in the CIF 3,200-meter finals.

26. Sofie Matson, junior, Falmouth ME: The Maine state champion was 14th at Foot Locker.

27. Ella Borsheim, sophomore, Bellarmine Prep WA: She is the reigning Washington 4A champion.

28. Jenna Schulz, senior, Liverpool NY: She was fourth in the New York Class A final last fall.

29. Tsion Yared, senior, Pine Crest FL: She is the reigning Florida 2A champion.

30. Taylor James, junior, Niwot CO: Super-talented from 200 through 800 meters, she was the runner-up in Colorado 4A last fall.

31. Heidi Nielson, junior, Katy Cinco Ranch TX: She had a strong track season, including a victory in the Dream Mile at the adidas Boost Boston Games, and recently won her first cross country race of the fall.

32. Valarie Lastra, senior, Mater Academy FL: She is the reigning Florida 3A champion.

33. Riley Chamberlain, sophomore, Del Oro CA: She is the California Division 3 champion.

34. Sarah Connelly, senior, Mount Sinai NY: The New York Class B champion won the state title in the 1,500 meters in 4:31.11 in the spring. 

35. London Culbreath, senior, McKinney TX: She weathered a difficult junior season but still won her eighth and ninth state titles on the track in Texas.  

36. Alyssa Hendrix, senior, Riverview FL: She is the reigning Florida 4A champion.

37. Lianna Surtz, sophomore, Rosary IL: She is looking to build on a tremendous freshman season that saw her finish 24th at NXN.  

38. Katrina Schlenker, sophomore, Batavia IL: She was second to Hart in the Illinois 3A state final last fall.

39. Julia David-Smith, junior, Issaquah WA: She was the runner-up in the Washington 4A cross country final last year.

40. Grace Ping, junior, Desert Vista AZ: Already a veteran of national championship racing, she has a chance to re-emerge in a new setting with a new coach in Arizona.

41. Zofia Dudek, senior, Ann Arbor Pioneer MI: She won the Brooks PR mile in 4:41.34.

42. Lexy Halladay, senior, Mountain View ID: The Idaho champion has competed at NXN twice and Foot Locker once.

43. Anna Martin, senior, Lehi UT: She is the Utah 4A champion.

44. Riley Stewart, sophomore, Cherry Creek CO: She placed 21st at Foot Locker as a freshman. 

45. Roisin Willis, sophomore, Stevens Point WI: If she can translate her speed onto the trails this fall, she could zoom up the rankings.

46. Teaghan Knox, sophomore, Summit OR: She is a key player in Summit’s drive to win a second straight NXN team title.

47. Ella Kurto, sophomore, Saratoga Springs NY: With the graduation of Kelsey Chmiel, she’s Kinetic’s No. 1 runner.

48. Audrey Suarez, junior, Mayfield CA: She was third in the CIF 1,600 meters (4:45) after placing 30th at Foot Locker.

49. Chloe Gonzalez, senior, North Hunterdon NJ: She was the New Jersey Meet of Champions runner-up last fall.

50. Devyn Candaele, sophomore, Vista Murrieta CA: Promising freshman campaign included sixth place in the CIF Division 1 final.

51. Lydia Russell, senior, Friends Central PA: Her eye-popping results on the track in the 3,000 meters at Penn Relays and 5,000 at New Balance Nationals Outdoor indicate she could be a serious threat in cross country.

52. Jenna Fitzsimmons, senior, Mountain Vista CO: She has won back-to-back Colorado 5A titles and leads powerful Southwest#1 team.

53. Nicole Vanasse, senior, Pingry NJ: The Foot Locker finalist is recovering from a spring injury.

54. Parker Valby, senior, East Lake FL: The senior ran an all-time Florida best 10:10.45 to win the 3A 3,200-meter title in the spring.

55. Carlee Hansen, junior, Woods Cross UT: She is the reigning Utah 5A champion.

56. Maddie Coles, sophomore, Claremont CA: She was second in CIF Division 2 last year.

57. Carmen Alder, junior, Pinecrest NC: She is the reigning North Carolina 4A champion.

58. Emily Carter, junior, Bethel Park Senior PA: She took a big step forward during track season, winning the Pennsylvania state AA title in the 3,200 meters (10:16.02).

59. Ashlyn Keeney, sophomore, Iowa City Liberty IA: Breakout performances at the Drake Relays bode well for cross country season.

60. Hana Hall, senior, Flagstaff AZ: She was second at NXR Southwest last fall.

61. Mary Hennelly, senior, Suffern NY: She placed sixth at Foot Locker Northeast last fall.

62. Ashley LaJocies, senior, Eagle ID: She was the Idaho 5A runner-up last fall.

63. Tierney Wolfgram, junior, Woodbury MN: A big talent to be sure, but she’s ineligible for varsity competition after transferring from nearby Math & Science.

64. Jenna Mulhern, sophomore, West Chester Henderson PA: She is the reigning Pennsylvania 2A champion.

65. Victoria Patterson, senior, Deerfield Academy MA: She finished 10th in the Foot Locker South regional.

66. Kendall Kramer, senior, West Valley AK: She is the defending Alaska 4A champion.

67. Emma Bucher, junior, Centerville OH: She was second to Ewert in the Ohio Division 1 cross country championships.

68. Carlie Dorostkar, senior, Canyon Crest Academy CA: She was sixth in the CIF 3,200-meter final in May.

69. Makena Gates, junior, Creekview GA: She is the reigning Georgia 6A champion.

70. Kate Peters, freshman, Lincoln OR: Age-group standout is stepping up to the high school level in Portland.

71. Natalie Cook, sophomore, Lewisville Flower Mound TX: She’s coming off a great track season, where she ran 4:50/10:24 at the Texas 6A state meet.

72. Phoebe White, senior, Fayetteville-Manlius NY: She’s looking for another big season with the F-M machine.

73. Erin Strzelecki, senior, Fort Wayne Bishop Zenger IN: She is the top returner in Indiana. 

74. Genevieve Nashold, sophomore, Madison West WI: She ran the table in Wisconsin and didn't lose until the postseason during her freshman year.

75. Savannah Roark, senior, Beavercreek OH: She ran 9:39 for 3,000 meters at the Penn Relays.

76. Brooke Stromsland, junior, Lakes Community IL: She is the reigning Illinois 2A champion. 

77. Cameron McConnell, sophomore, Cherokee Trail CO: Already this season, she posted a strong time at the Cheyenne Mountain Stampede. 

78. Sophia Reynolds, sophomore, Merrimack Valley NH: She is the New Hampshire MOC champion.

79. Erinn Hill, junior, North Central WA: She was third in the Washington 3A state final last fall. 

80. Aubrey O'Connell, sophomore, Prosper TX: She was third in the Texas UIL 6A state meet in 2018.  

81. Marie Hostetler, senior, Mid-Prairie Community IA: She is the Iowa 2A state champion.

82. Brianne Brewster, senior, Lakeville South MN: She finished 11th at Foot Locker Midwest and ninth at NXR Heartland last year.

83. Julia Flynn, sophomore, Traverse City Central MI: She logged a personal-best 17:26 in a runaway victory Aug. 24 at Benzie Central.  

84. Kaitlynn Wolfe, senior, Blacksburg VA: She was the Virginia 4A runner-up last year. 

85. Samrawit Dishon, senior, Niwot CO: She won the Emerging Elite mile at New Balance Nationals Outdoor. 

86. Anna Fenske, junior, Farmington MN: She's the top returner from the Minnesota AA meet. 

87. Emma Atkinson, senior, Wayzata MN: She was right behind Fenske at the Minnesota state meet and enters her fifth season as an important piece for the Trojans.  

88. Jonna Strange, senior, North Iredell NC: Last year's North Carolina 3A fifth-place finisher ran a reported 17:10 5K to start the season Tuesday. 

89. Sarah O'Sullivan, senior, Mountain Vista CO: She was eighth at the NXR Southwest Championships last year. 

90. Olivia Morganti, senior, Christian Brothers Syracuse NY: She was runner-up in the New York Class B final last year.

91. Lucy Huelskamp, senior, Sunset OR: She was fourth in the Oregon 6A final last fall. 

92. Taylor Whitfield, junior, Valor Christian CO: She won the Colorado 5A 3,200-meter title in the spring. 

93. Brooklyn Biancamano, sophomore, Long Beach MS: She is the two-time Mississippi 5A champion.  

94. Mari Noble, junior, Greenwich CT: She was fourth at the New England Championships last year. 

95: Ricky Fetterolf, junior, Loudoun Valley VA: She was eighth at NXR Southeast last year. 

96. Naomi Smith, senior, King’s WA: She won the Washington 1A state meet crown in 2018.

97. Meghan Ford, junior, Jamestown ND: She is the North Dakota Class A returning champion. 

98. Jasmine Turtle-Morales, senior, Eldorado NM: She is the reigning New Mexico Class 5A champion.

99. Annelise Quinton, junior, Grant OR: She's building momentum after a strong track season (9:50 for 3,000). 

100. Ella Gilson, junior, Hawken OH: She is the reigning Ohio Division 2 state champion.
