Boys Regional Rankings, 9/24/15

Southwest We are sticking with our original five from the preseason but with some slight adjustments. Ogden remains a team to watch in the region. They bounced back from an early season fifth place finish at the Highland Invitational behind Davis and Timpanogos to close the gap on Davis just two weeks later while finished 2nd at the Murray Invitational. 1. American Fork UT 2. Davis UT 3. Mountain Vista CO 4. Timpanogos UT 5. Desert Hills UT
New York It was unclear how the New York Region would shake out this year after lots of graduations and the early season results haven't helped a lot. We will still give the nod to Class C East Aurora but F-M has already started their movement upward. 1. East Aurora 2. St. Anthony's 3. Fayetteville-Manlius 4. Pittsford-Mendon 5. Liverpool
Heartland Hopkins traveled to the Heartland Classic in Ames and defeated many of the top teams in Iowa and their next door neighbor in Minnesota, Edina. Those two are joined by fellow Minnesota team from the preseason watchlist, Stillwater. With the healthy return of Eli Krahn, Stillwater will be a team recon with in Minnesota and the Heartland. 1. Hopkins MN 2. Wayzata MN 3. Edina MN 4. Stillwater MN 5. Millard West NE/Madison La Follette WI
Northeast CBA and La Salle are both at the Bowdoin Park Classic on Saturday, but in separate races. 1. Christian Brothers Academy NJ 2. La Salle Academy RI 3. Lowell MA 4. Don Bosco Prep NJ 5. Bishop Hendricken RI
South El Paso Eastwood, a team not even on our watchlist sneaks into the top five with three impressive wins in the early season including their 47 point 16:27 average at the Canutillo Invitational in El Paso. 1. Southlake Carroll TX 2. The Woodlands TX 3. Jenks OK 4. El Paso Eastwood TX 5. College Park (The Woodlands) TX
Southeast Marietta moves up a spot after edging Broughton at the Adidas XC Challenge. We still see the Southeast as the region that could have any of these top five in any order on any given day. 1. Dulaney MD 2. Lake Braddock VA 3. Marietta GA 4. Broughton NC 5. Brentwood TN
Midwest One of the teams from our preseason watchlist makes their debut in our top five rankings. St. Ignatius, OH beat Carmel (preseason Midwest #3) and Brentwood, TN (preseason Southeast #5) at the Trinity/Valkyrie Invitational. Novi of Michigan also gets added to a team to watch with their win at the MSU Spartan Invite. 1. Sandburg IL 2. Lafayette MO 3. St. Ignatius OH 4. Neuqua Valley IL 5. Carmel IN
Northwest There aren't enough results in to change our minds yet. However, Mountain View’s impressive showings have our attention and they will get a long look in two weeks when the regional rankings are posted again. 1. North Central WA 2. Tahoma WA 3. Summit OR 4. Mountain View ID 5. Crater OR
California (by Erik Boal) Martin Luther King has made significant movement, following a dominant performance at the Riverside Showcase with a runner-up finish to Great Oak in the Woodbridge Classic sweepstakes race. West Ranch has also started strong, winning the Fastback Shootout at Mt. SAC before placing fifth at Woodbridge, including third among California teams. 1. Great Oak (Southern Section Division I) 2. Dana Hills (Southern Section Division I) 3. Martin Luther King (Southern Section Division I) 4. West Ranch (Southern Section Division II) 5. Agoura (Southern Section Division II) 6. Ventura (Southern Section Division I) 7. Madera South (Central Section Division I) 8. Jesuit (Sac-Joaquin Section Division I) 9. California (Southern Section Division I) 10. Loyola (Southern Section Division II)
