Top Of Rankings Re-Shuffled Going Into Stretch Run

By Adam Schneider of DyeStat

No. 1 Oregon’s convincing victory over formerly top-ranked Colorado at the Pac-12 championships has thrown the top of the rankings into disorder. The great performances over the past month has made it clear that there are likely only five contenders for the team trophies and that all five of those teams could finish in the top two.

No. 5 Boise State beat No. 2 New Mexico at the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational but lost to the Lobos at the Mountain West conference championship meet. Boise State will face Oregon, Stanford and Washington at the West Regional meet in Sacramento. No. 3 Colorado won Nuttycombe but will have difficulty beating an improving Lobo team at the Mountain Region meet in Provo. No. 4 Arkansas will not be challenged at the South Central Regional meet in College Station, Texas. The Razorbacks are the most intriguing team this year after their convincing defeat of Oregon at the Pre-Nationals meet.

Regional meets this weekend:

Nov. 9 Villanova, Penn State, Princeton, and Georgetown at Mid Atlantic Regional at University Park, PA

Nov. 9 Columbia, Syracuse, Yale, and Providence at Northeast Regional at Buffalo, NY

Nov. 9 North Carolina State, Furman, Eastern Kentucky and Virginia Tech at Southeast Regional at Rock Hill, SC

Nov. 9 Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, and Indiana at Great Lakes Regional at Terre Haute, IN

Nov. 9 Iowa State, Oklahoma State, and Minnesota at Midwest Regional at Peoria, IL

Nov. 9 Florida and Mississippi at South Regional at Tallahassee, FL

Nov. 9 New Mexico, Colorado, BYU, and Southern Utah at Mountain Regional at Provo, UT
