High School Regional Rankings Boys XC 2022 - 10/20Published by
Boys Regional Rankings - 10/20/2022 By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor And just like that, high school runners all over the country are reaching the finish line of their seasons as conference, district, regional and state meets draw the curtain. Within the next week, Utah, Nebraska, Montana, Wyoming and the Dakotas will all have state meets. The regional rankings have shifted some, but not much, the past two weeks. In California, the Clovis Invitational results set the current order for the state. San Clemente bumped ahead of Granada for the No. 2 spot behind Newbury Park. Great Oak is fourth and Crescenta Valley is fifth. Three of those schools -- San Clemente, Great Oak and Crescenta Valley -- will be at the Mt. SAC Invitational this weekend. San Clemente also dominated the Orange County Championships, with Juan Chantaca, Brett Ephraim and Rory Castimanes going 1-3-4. In the Heartland region, Wayzata crushed the Lake Conference Championship meet in Minnesota, packing five into the top eight with just 25 seconds of separation. That result moves the Trojans to the top of the Hearland rankings, ahead of Iowa's Dowling Catholic. With Hamza Mohamed leading the way, pack running like that could lead to good things for Wayzata. In New York, Corning-Painted Post returned to the top spot after beating St. Anthony's head to head by 20 points at the Manhattan Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park. Christian Brothers Academy of New Jersey won the Eastern States title, and Corning and St. Anthony's placed second and third, respectively. Monroe-Woodbury's recent performance at the Burnt Hills Invitational was strong enough to move up two spots to No. 3. Also at Manhattan, fourth-place Bishop Hendricken of Rhode Island has moved into the fifth spot in the Northeast. A newcomer to the regional rankings in the Northwest is West Salem, which has been getting better each week and put together a strong team performance at the Rose City Invitational Championship in Portland, beating Central Catholic and previously ranked Lincoln. Jack Meier and Brady Bliven lead a team that is hoping to be a factor at NXR Northwest against Crater, Jesuit and Rocky Mountain. In the Southeast, Belen Jesuit rose to the No. 1 spot in the region with its impressive showing at the FSU Invitaitonal/Pre-State. Seven runners on the team ran under 16 minutes on the Apalachee Regional Park course, led by Joshua Ruiz (15:16.6). The Southwest region rankings shifted just a bit, but the Utah and Colorado state meets are now just days away and those races will finally reveal the true pecking order of those loaded states.
