National Boys High School Team Rankings - 9/27Published by
Top Four Teams Separating From The Pack By Paul Schmitz of DyeStat Led by Loudoun Valley VA, the preseason top six teams remain in the same order a month into the season. Fayetteville-Manlius NY, American Fork UT and Great Oak CA join Loudoun Valley in the top tier as serious national title contenders. Each of these teams is undefeated so far and have sights set on at least a podium spot at NXN. The next tier also consists of four teams -- St Francis Mountain View CA, Wheaton Warrenville South IL, Burnt Hills-Ballston NY and Christian Brothers Academy NJ. All of them have made strong early season showings. It’s moving week for the rest of the country. Preseason projections and potential carry less weight in the rankings every week. Teams that concentrate on training in the early season and not winning big meets give way to teams that have shown promise in early races. Skyridge UT moves up 14 spots to No. 13 after a great first few weeks. The Falcons opened the season with four wins and then finished second to American Fork at the BYU Autumn Classic and second to Great Oak at Bob Firman in back-to-back weeks against large fields. Edina MN jumps from No. 42 in the preseason to No. 20 and Brighton MI, The Woodlands TX and St. Charles East IL all join the top 30 after great starts. Meet note: The Heartland region will practically rank itself before the next batch of regional rankings next week after the Roy Griak Invitational this weekend in St. Paul, Minn. All of the top teams in the region will compete on the University of Minnesota's home course, including national No. 17 Middleton WI, No. 20 Edina MN and No. 23 Wayzata MN. Those teams are joined by regional competitors Dowling Catholic IA, St. Thomas Aquinas KS, Olathe North KS and a host of other top teams from around the region. Boys Top 30 5.
