High School Regional Rankings Girls XC 2018 - 11/15/18Published by
Girls Regional Rankings, 11/15 By Adam Kopet of DyeStat Three NXR meets are now in the books with two more to come this weekend in the South and Southwest. Six teams have already stamped tickets to NXN from the Northwest, Midwest and Heartland. In the South Region, this week's rankings mirror the Texas state meet results with Coppell taking the top spot after earning an upset victory over Lewisville Flower Mound. There is a great deal of parity within Texas this year and any of the top five teams could come away the winner this weekend. In the Southeast, Lawton Chiles FL takes over the top spot after a strong state meet performance. Auburn AL, which had been previously ranked, returns to the top five and moves all the way up to No. 2 in the region. This week's rankings also reflect strong results out of North Carolina with Cardinal Gibbons and Cuthbertson both earning spots. In the Northeast Region, the once No. 1-ranked North Hunterdon NJ girls reclaim their place at the top after having the best performance at the New Jersey Group Championships. Ridgewood NJ and Natick MA also had strong performances this week to place them in the top five. Both the Southwest and California remain the same this week. The teams from the Southwest will compete for NXN berths with the top Colorado teams being the favorites. In California, teams will be trying to earn spots at state. Several teams in the Southern Section were able to run controlled efforts to qualify for this weekend's Southern Section Finals where the reigns should be unleashed in the run up to state. This week's Midwest Regional rankings do not completely match the results from Sunday's competition in Terre Haute, Ind.. With the Ohio state meet being delayed by a week, the state meet and NXR Midwest Regional fell on back-to-back days. Rankings for the teams in the Midwest are based on the NXR Midwest Regional results and the Ohio state meet results. Both Beavercreek OH and Centerville OH are ranked despite not finishing in the top five at the NXR Midwest.
