High School Regional Rankings Boys XC 2018 - 11/15/18Published by
Boys Regional Rankings, 11/15 By Paul Schmitz of DyeStat With the completion of three NXR events this past weekend, three of the Nike regions have ranked themselves. Races in the Northwest, Heartland and Midwest have secured the first six automatic qualifiers to NXN and the South and the Southwest will be decided this weekend. Former Heartland No. 3 Mounds View MN jumps to the top of the region with a win at NXR. Preseason favorite Middleton WI was finally able to put a complete team race together and earn a second consecutive NXR bid with second place. In the Midwest, Hersey IL scored a huge upset over year long No. 1 Wheaton Warrenville South as those teams went 1-2 and will travel together to Portland. Illinois was once again dominant in that race securing the top five team spots. The preseason picks of Kamiakin WA and Central Valley WA also both came through as those teams both make it two years in a row to Portland out of the Nike Northwest. The Southeast leaders held serve as all five teams captured state titles in their respective divisions since the last published rankings. Two of those teams hail from the state of North Carolina where Cary brought home the 4A title and Weddington won in 3A. There was a reorder of the NXR Northeast with more possible changes to come. La Salle Academy RI took home the New England title over previous regional No. 1 Bishop Hendricken. This win bumps previous No. 1 Christian Brothers Academy back into the top spot. CBA is set to take on the best in New Jersey at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions this weekend with the very tight Nike Northeast to follow on Nov. 24.
